NEW (10/17/06)

NO vacuum used when cutting out plastic tiles. We added proper codes to take 2 passes and to slow the feed down on the final linear cutting of the tiles. This saved our customer about $5000. The customer wanted to use the machine for strictly one application. We are able to program the project for the company and give them a ready to run machine with everything less the computer.

Cutting Wood
We place a sherline lathe onto a KG-3925-GC 3 Axis cnc router. We used a tappered ball endmill with a 1/8th shank . We used the K2 ER11 collet holder, Technik Collet, ER 25 - 1/2 inch collet to hold the ER11 collet holder. The spindle was a 3HP Colombo spindle, set to 18,000 RPM. On the first attempt and not optimized, we went 4 passes with the final 4th used for finishing at a .001" clean up. We used a Dead center, but we would recommend a live center. Approximate time for all 4 passes roughly about 7 minutes.

1. Rough Pass 5 ipm
2. Finish 2 ipm

Cutting Poly Pro (Plastic) for Orthodics application. We used a ball endmill. We used a 1:1 Ratio, Servo of 105 Oz/in, 0.25 in diameter endmill, 2.5hp Hitachi router. If you are interested in making project similar to this we recommend the new KG-1414. This is not a model currently on the web site but has been design using the KG-3925-G parts. The Travel is 14"x14".

The machine is a KT1414 that has a thomson .004 backlash ballscrews added to it. The ratio was 1:1.
